Sizing is off

I liked everything about this shoe except the sizing. I ordered size 10, but my foot hung off the edges a bit. The box said EU 40, but I think a EU 40 is closer to a 9 1/2. Since there isn’t a size 40.5 I’m afraid the 41 would be too big. I will be returning the shoes.
