Very heavy.
Cooks Well, But Very Heavy!!
I thought the KitchenAid 11 inch Enameled Cast Iron Grill Pan would be a great addition to my kitchen. For myself, this is not the case. There are too many "don't do's" or "be careful's" to make using it easy. It does grill and bake very well, and I loved the crispy bacon that I made on the grill! The pan itself is super heavy. You really can't remove it from the cabinet or the oven with one hand without almost dropping it. It also warns you that it may scratch counter tops, metal sinks, and ceramic cooktops. There always needs to be a potholder, dish towel or trivet nearby in order to prevent this. When you use the grill pan in the oven, it may get so hot that you also can't take it out of the oven and put it on a cold ceramic cooktop without the risk of shattering the cold surface. Maybe all cast iron pans and skillets are this way, it just doesn't work well for me. I am always looking to make my cooking quicker and easier, whereas this makes it a bit more difficult for me. Some of you may be absolutely ok with this and/or use to this while cooking, so the pan may be a welcome addition to your collection. The grill pan itself is beautiful, cooks well, and comes in several different colors of enameled finish! You will have to decide which features and warnings fit in your own cooking pro and con columns.

Great, alternate to grilling
This is by far one of the best alternates to grilling I’ve ever used my entire life. It was simple and easy to prepare steaks and burgers. Without having a hard time we’re having a require cast iron skillet do it myself. This was absolutely the best thing I could ever use.

Looks Good, Works Great
This is a great cast iron grill pan! The size is perfect for burgers or a steak. It is an excellent addition for when you want to grill but are stuck with rainy weather. I recommend this product to everyone!

Washes clean
I was very impressed with this cast iron dishes enamel,easy to clean surface. I did some pork shops and potatoes in this pan and the drippings got cooked on and crunchy along the bottom. After letting it cool down ,with the nonstick enamel surface,you can wash it with soap and water and the pan came clean real easy. Because it is cast iron it holds its heat very well,keeping your food hot for a longer time. This pan is heavy. I would not recommend it for your grandma, the handles are small on each side and it is real heavy when full of food and getting it in and out of oven . My food did cook faster in this enamel cast iron pan then in a glass pan.

Durable
With this enameled Cast Iron grill pan I have found that it is better used when I cook on a medium heat. It gives grill lines to my meat. While cooking I have found that sausage and steaks do not stick to it, and they are easy to turn and flip over while giving you a even heat and cooked fully through. It’s 11 inches in size so you can cook about 4 burgers on it, or 2 large ones at a time. The only downfall I had noticed was after cooking the clean up takes a minute to wash the pan correctly since so much stuff gets stuck in the grooves that it takes a bit of effort to clean it out. The pan is heavy and well made so you can tell it will last you for a while. The color I got is light blue and it matches perfectly with my other pots and pans. I feel like Kitchen aid makes great quality products that keep the consumer in mind.

I was impressed
I was surprised by how heavy duty the pan ended up being. It’s a great product and I love the color. Easy to cook with and appears to distribute heat evenly. Also easy to clean. I would recommend the pan.

This pan is wonderful
I love this pan. I’ve made burgers and steak on the stovetop with it, and stuffed banana peppers in the oven. It’s easy to clean despite the ridges in it. It is very heavy to lift but it’s sturdy. I highly recommend it to anyone who likes to grill.
