  • About The Fragrance

    Black Saffron, an oriental composition, opens with the bright citrus note of the Asian pomelo and crisp juniper berries, mellowed into a golden silage by Kashmiri saffron. At its heart lies black violet fused with a leather accord, their dark, dry composition born aloft by the delicate transparency of cristal rose. At the base, blond woods add radiant warmth and harmony, punctuated by staccato flashes of luscious raspberry. The journey concludes with the gentle, earthy evocations of Haitian vetiver.

    Saffron is holy to all Hindus, is the color of Buddhist robes and has become a symbol for India. It has always been a part of BYREDO's founders' Indian upbringing both in smell, taste and color. Black Saffron is a fragrance inspired by this very idea of sublime unity.

LOVE!

The dry down for this fragrance is amazing. It is definitely a unisex scent, but I doubt I will be sharing with my fiancée…lol. The leather notes are not too powerful, so it is enjoyable for day or night.

Lot of potential

There's definitely a lot of potential here, it starts off as a very bright and generic greenish citrus flowery masculine scent. The kind of thing you'd smell from a magazine insert. Then, it gets pretty good on the dry down. The saffron becomes easier to identify, as well as leather that's almost musky. I wish the dry down came sooner, and was more powerful. It's an elusive scent, that doesn't come through clearly on my skin.

My new favourite

I love Byredo fragrances and Black Saffron is my signature scent. I love the leather and spicy florals, it's different to anything else I wear I've and not love that it’s not sickly sweet smelling. I wear this during the day and the evening. I prefer it for the daytime and receive lots of compliments. It’s definitely a splurge but you won’t be disappointed!

very subtle scent

Bought this a month ago as I am a fan of Byredo products I usually like to get the body lotion and shower gel but this wasn’t available on line or in any of the shops or they don’t yet do these products, as a result I found it a very faint scent and probably not one i’d buy again it’s quite difficult to describe but it lacks a distinct smell

Beautiful again

This is another beautiful byredo fragrance! They’re one of my favourite brands as I find a minimal amount literally lasts all day and black saffron is no different. I would say though this is very leather when first sprayed but when this dies down the scent left behind is more beautiful and complex

Realistic leather fragrance

Super leathery when first sprayed! I have knocked off a star as I was hoping it would develop into something more complex but on me it's very one-note throughout. It's still very nice though and probably the most realistic leather fragrance I have ever smelled. It also lasts a long time on my skin which is something I usually have trouble with.
