Unpleasant smell

I did like the smell of the blanket when I opened the package so I washed it and put it in the dryer. I have never seen so much lint in my life. The lint was 3 inches thick in the dryer lint trap each of the 3 times I dried it. The blanket should not have smelled in the first place.
