Key Notes

Steamed Rice, Luminous Mimosa, Deep Blonde Wood Accord
  • About The Fragrance

A light and fresh white musk fragrance inspired by paper composed of notes of steamed rice, luminous mimosa and a deep blonde wood accord.

A tribute to paper and its power to unleash the imagination. As ink soaks into a sheet of white paper, shadows emerge. Worlds are invented. L'Eau Papier celebrates the power of the imagination, that moment, suspended in time, when ink, paper and the hand become one.

An encounter made perfume, plunging us into the heart of musk and its multiple facets. Musk evolves, changes, expresses itself over time and from one skin to another, just as ink saturates paper, assuming its texture to conjure up dreams and images. In L'Eau Papier, white musks are delicately faceted by an accord of rice steam, evoking the grain of the paper. To these are added luminous notes of mimosa, while a backdrop of blonde wood tones grounds L'Eau Papier in the material itself.

Developed in collaboration with perfumer Fabrice Pellegrin and artist Alix Waline. L'Eau Papier is a tribute to creation (the backbone of the Maison) and to paper, the primary means by which that creation is expressed. The name of this creation brings together water and paper, recalling both the history of the Maison and the founding trio's driving passion for the line and the brushstroke. It conjures up the diluted ink that permeates the page and calls forth shape, the act performed by every artist composing a drawing and giving free rein to their imagination. In this Eau de Toilette, the perfumer used Grasse mimosa, a variety that has been cultivated since 1865. Its downy yellow flowers bloom in February on the hills around the town of Grasse, offering a stunning sight scented with sunny, floral and honeyed notes.

For the bottle, French artist Alix Waline has stayed true to her own style, fashioning a work in delicate black and white, deploying shades and textures in abundance, and elaborating the drawing dot by dot, layer by layer. In a complete contrast to traditional illustrations for diptyque perfumes, there is no recognizable figure or scenery, rather, an impressionistic, abstract composition in black and white.

ultimate clean girl scent

initally when i first bought this it smelt very spicy, but when it dried down on my skin it gave the vibe of the alluring clean scent of rice and comfort. it's a very stunning smell and is an imitation of the smell of ink blending with paper. i have been so addicted and drawn to this scent, it's very light but it knows how to make a first impression. the rice smell reminds me of mountians in japan in the cooling breeze.

Obsessed

Strolling in NK space I randomly picked this fragrance wondering why Diptyque is so popular. Since then I got obsessed with this unique fragrance. Complex and sophisticated, difficult to forget. As it dries down, it reveals new layers: a soft sweetness, a whisper of spice, maybe even a touch of leather. Every time I wear it, I notice something new. It’s not the kind of perfume that fits neatly into a category, it evolves, it surprises, and it leaves an impression.

really pretty

This is like a 'elevated' version of the original glossier scent. Very clean girl aesthetic but comforting/ addictive and elegant. It is unique as not many scents are like this. It lasts well. I always get compliments on this. Its there and noticeable but not overpowering.

It's nice, but I prefer othes

I tried Diptyque L’Eau Papier and thought it was nice, but it didn’t leave a strong impression. It’s clean and soft, with a paper-like quality that feels light and minimal. I can see why people enjoy it, but it just didn’t click with me. It fades quietly after a few hours and stays close to the skin. It’s easy to wear and has a gentle presence, but I didn’t find it memorable or distinctive enough to want a full bottle. It’s a pleasant scent, just not one I felt strongly about.

Unique and very clean

I got this as a small tester with the same scent candle. On my skin the EDT opens up very fresh, clean and beautiful. From what I have tried the longevity is not bad at all and I would be interested of going with this fragrance for a bigger size. I loved the candle and so is this fragrance.

It’s nice but maybe not for me

I got a small bottle of this in the scent library box. I absolutely loved the initial notes straight after spraying it. It was soft and interesting. Unfortunately, on dry down it turned into a cool, slightly metallic scent. Quite masculine. Le Labo’s Another 13 behaves in a similar way on my skin and I’ve had to stop wearing it. Le Labo is like this perfume on steroids on me, very strong, metallic and lacks warmth. I wish I had had the same experience of the softness lingering as many others have had!

amazingly unique

I love L'Eau Papier Eau de Toilette so much. It's warm, slightly milky, and really unique—unlike anything else I own. I get so many compliments when I wear it. The name might make you think it smells like old books, but it doesn’t at all. I’m not sure how it relates to paper, but don’t let that put you off. It’s soft, comforting, and has amazing longevity. A beautiful scent I keep reaching for and will buy again when it runs out.
