Bought as a gift for a Virgo friend’s birthday, who was really happy with it. She said it smelt beautiful and made her feel relaxed and cosy. Well wrapped up by Kings Road store and great service. Could give in the bag without any further wrapping, may treat myself to one now.

love this
I am a real candle junkie and have lots of Diptyque candles, I absolutely love this one. It's so weird reading how many people don't like it! It's such a warm, musky, comforting scent to me with a really powerful throw. Yes I can smell the rice, but it's sweet, cosy, .... Whereas Encre: No thanks lol, it smelt like a musty old wardrobe to me!

A bit disappointing
I like the Papier eau de toilette so was excited to see Diptyque and released a candle version of it but I don't feel like the fragrance of the eau de toilette has translated well to the candle. Something is missing for me but I'm not sure entirely what. The candle is also very faint and doesn't fill the room in the same way that other Diptyque candles do when lit.

Meh
This is mimos-y and has a bitterness into it. Not my kind of scent, not for the library, can't imagine. I did not get any sesame either, its presence has to be very very faint and bitter. The Ink and Papier scented candles are really for the particular noses. Smells like bitter mimosa.

My favourite Diptyque perfume now in a candle
L'eau Papier has been an obsession since it launched so when I heard there was a candle coming in the range I simply had to have it. It has all of the beautiful steamed rice and yellow floral of the perfume and none of the beauty is lost! I would recommend this to anyone (while stocks last)

Smells like old rice
Do not blind buy this. This is described as 'A luminous mimosa, plus accords of blonde wood and rice steam.' but the only note I get from this is RICE. It literally smells like old rice water. I'm not sure where the name 'papier' came from. I still love diptyque but this is the worst candle of theirs I've smelt

Solid scent
Not quite like the perfume but I am still getting that unique paper-y, booky, clean scent from this that is hard to describe. Great throw and burns evenly which is really important for a candle that is quite pricy. The jar is also very chic which one of the best things about the candles from Diptyque.

So unique!
I'm a fan of the fragrance, so it is nice to be able to get a candle of the same! To me - whenever I smell L'eau Papier it makes me imagine someone having been out all night in an underground bar. There's a slight cigarette smell to it, which I'm sorry - but I love that! This candle sits in my wardrobe unburned so that I get a nice waft of it when I open the door. Seems like a bit of a waste for a candle but it truly brings me joy every day, so why not?
