Disappointing customer service

I'm happy with this sweater, but not with Bloomingdale's service! The sweater I received in the mail had a large plastic security button securely attached to it, making it impossible to wear in the condition in which it was received. Since it is no longer available in my size, I wanted to return the one I received by mail, have the tag removed and the same sweater returned to me in a wearable condition without the security device. Bloomingdale's refused to do this, even though this was their mistake. I think any respectable retailer would have taken care of this problem.
