    Dominique Ropion trained at the legendary Roure Bertrand Dupont laboratory before going to work with Jean-Louis Sieuzac, one of the perfumery world's great technicians. Today he is a star perfumer at IFF. What makes Ropion's work special is the mix of precision and freedom and his quest to create new, harmonious accords by pairing ingredients, which are polar opposites. An adventurer who abandons himself to instinct, Dominique Ropion is also extremely rigorous in the final stages of the formulation of each of his fragrances.

Another beautiful blend

I love the Frédéric Malle perfume range and have toyed with this one a few times. It's the most popular (or at least the most recommended by sales assistants), so I've succumbed a few times but I must admit I prefer Carnal Flower. I find Portrait of a Lady just a little too strong, too heavy or too rich for my taste. Frederic Malle perfumes don't fade over the course of the day and I find I can't wear this particular blend multiple days in a row. That said, it's beautiful. It oozes quality. It's unique. I'd definitely recommend trying it as a entry point for the range if you're unsure because it's elegant and classic and you won't go wrong.

Perfume perfection

I’m over the moon that Space NK are final selling Frederic Malle’s exquisite perfumes. Portrait of a Lady Eau de Parfum is a classic heady rose and oud fragrance that is so intense that it represents excellent value for money. I cannot recommend more highly.

First love

I discovered this perfume over 10 years ago, and it was the first one I fell in love with. I used several bottles—though my flatmate at the time suffered a lot, as I used five drops every morning :) I even got several bottles for my mum. Years later, I understand my friend’s reaction—it is indeed very intense. One drop is more than enough. The last time I applied it, I felt nauseous because it was too strong and got into my hair. I still love the scent, but I can’t handle it anymore. Hopefully, this is temporary, as I still appreciate the blend and love when others wear it. When I smell it on someone passing by, I think: I need to rediscover my first perfume love again.

Beautifully blended

This is the most sophisticated (and expensive) perfume I own, it is so long lasting even though I don’t wear a lot. I also find it’s not too heavy to wear during the day, you just need a lighter ‘dose’. It’s very well blended so that it slowly develops but you don’t completely loose the top notes.

A classic

Not my favourite scent of the Frederick Malle range but for sure a classic scent that lives up to its name. Alike other scents from this brand, a unique blend of ingredients that feels quality and lasts well on the skin. If floral scents are your penchant this is a brilliant execution.

My favourite fragrance

This is my all time favourite fragrance. Whenever I am stopped and asked what fragrance I am wearing it is when I am wearing PoL. I am thrilled that it is finally available here at Space NI, but to be honest the price is better elsewhere, certainly at a place where things are never knowingly undersold. It is quite strong, it might not be suitable for all, but have a spritz, see what you think.

Sophisticated scenat

This is such a sophisticated oud and rose smell. It is strong projecting and long lasting. I personally find it one of the easiest oud perfumes to wear so if you are new to heavy perfumes it will be great for you. I also find this perfume quite unisex and like how it smells on men. Overall this is a sophisticated perfume that will elevate your image

Good

This is one of the longest lasting perfumes I have ever come across. One spray will linger for full day. This is a heavier scent and something most will prefer during cold winter. Also it is for more mature scent audience, not younger girls. My mom loves it. Smells rich.
