In general, this appliance sucks. Don't buy it. I made the mistake of buying it cuz it was cheap. Doing slicing is difficult. Everything usually turns out as green mulch. I do use it for grinding up nuts for granola. It's fine for that. And, as a blender, although I never use it that way. I have used it for slicing up like carrots and celery. But, as there's 1 blade, you don't have much flexibililty. And there's this fatal flaw: there's a space above the blade and below the cover that's tall enough for the last inch or two of carrot (or whatever) to slip into. Then it just bounces around in that area, instead of getting sliced. I usually just pop it into my mouth. The plunger tunnel should extend down to the blade. Be very careful not to stick the plunger in backwards. Pay attention to the curves on the sides and the curves in the slot. Sliding it in is easy, and if you force it a bit, it'll come out the other end. It is then stuck with no easy way to get it out. I had to file down the plastic and finally melt down a few corners to get it out. Big design goofup. The speed is pretty fast and powerful, probably too fast, it's a bit intimidating.

Really easy to use clean and store!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Really easy to use clean and store! I love how easily I could take it apart, and it’s really convenient that you could slice and mince. Very versatile as you can make some thing like guacamole or just use it to slice veggies for a salad. Slicer is very sharp, and stays sharp. The only thing is that the base have a way to lock the container in, so be careful when lifting. Otherwise this is an amazing product and makes cooking/prepping a lot easier.

Cheap quality, poor design!

I have had this product for 18 months, and used maybe 2 dozen times at best. Just after it was out of warranty the handle became loose from the bowl, not to the point of falling off, but food/soap/water gets trapped behind the handle now. This was only mildly annoying, but suggests it is cheap quality. Also it is not very powerful, at least compared to my Braun that lasted 12 years. The lack of power was also annoying, but not the end of the world. The real disappointment came when I went to use the wide slicer blade for the first time. The slicing disc sits loosely enough on the stem that it wobbled when running and cut a chunk of plastic off the lid, ruining my dinner plans and leaving me with zero desire to use the unit ever again. I don't even feel comfortable donating such junk. This product is poorly designed and cheaply made. I definitely do not recommend. It will be my last Kitchenaid purchase.
