Prepare for rug odor and dust for a few weeks

I'm happy with the design, color, and size but the rug has a strong odor. I've vacuumed every day and the vacuum pulls up grey colored dust. It collects in my clear plastic vacuum cleaner container each time I vacuum, so I can see it. It's been about 3 weeks and the rug odor is finally going away, though not 100% yet. There's also not as much "dust" as there was in the beginning. Once all that has cleared, everything will be fine and I'll be happy with the rug. Thankfully, I have no allergies and the weather permits opening the windows or it could have been a problem.
