Simple and Classic Wine Stemware

We registered for these for our wedding over 3 years ago and they have held up great! They are the perfect stemware for red and white wines and champagne -- the great quality of crystal with a clean and classic look. You do have to hand wash them and we store them in microfiber bags to keep them safe.

Wine Enhancing Stemware

I love Riedel Stemware! I was first exposed to Riedel at nicer restaurants when I would order a glass of wine and love the light thin glass feel on my lip as I sipped my wine. I started to notice the small Riedel logo etched onto the bottom of these superior wine glasses and decided then and there that I would someday own Riedel. I liked the classic design of the Vinum Collection and was lucky enough to accumulate sets of the Pinot Noir, Burgundy and Chardonnay glasses when I got married. I live in the Pacific NW, the land of Pinot Noir, and one of the small pleasures I enjoy in life is drinking my Pinot from Riedel’s Pinot Glasses. When I first had my Riedel Stemware I washed them by hand because I read that somewhere, but after much googling and even a YouTube video from Riedel that said that dishwashers were okay I began washing the stemware exclusively in the dishwasher and that makes me like Riedel even better! I will admit that they take up a lot of room in the dishwasher, especially because they do not fit on the top. So, not only do you have to put them on the bottom of the dishwasher but I like to make sure they are secured between the slots – and then make sure to do a heated air dry and they come out just like new! I have only ever broken two glasses and that is when I was hand washing because you have to be ever so careful not to put too much torch on the stem when rotating to dry/clean.

Beautiful and Practical

A glass that enhances the aroma, flavor and mouth feel of wine is key to enjoying a great bottle of something special. I've attended wine tasting evenings where we've tasted the same wine from various glasses, and it's amazing how the aroma and flavor change according to the glass. A thick and chunky glass dulls the flavor and smell, whereas the beautiful Riedels enhance everything from the flavor and aroma to the color and feel of the wine. Cleaning is simple, just rinse in hot water. Don't use soap as the glass is porous.

The stemware make the wine

This was a new concept for me. The container actually improves nuances to wine's bouquet? Why not? A friend of mine, 30 years plus my senior, has always suggested this fact. She stated that a certain weight watchers program encourages this idea to their members. The idea being that taste will alleviate appetite. Now, seeing that this is indeed a principal recognised and used in the wine industry, I am confident in it's plausibility. Beyond this, however I find this stemware to be machined to delicate standards. From the base, to stem and cusp, the ware holds the wine well and allows the wine to be held well. I enjoy the craftsmanship. I find it comparable to quality of Marquis Waterford. It is well-balanced in weight. The base is adequate without being awkward. The set does require attention to avoid damage. It is not dishwasher safe. The crystal reflects light well, shinning, giving a fair amount of lead in the glass. I recommend this collection. Riedel is company that supports breast cancer charities through some specific purchases. Macy's supports women's health as well. My family has been touched by this disease, so it is important to me to support companies that support these causes.

Great wine glasses

They look great but more importantly they complement the wine you're drinking, without being overdramatic. They actually make the wine taste better (and the better quality your wine the more you'll notice this enhancemet; so if you pay a lot for good wine these glasses are really worth it).

Great thin wine glasses

These glasses are terrific -- nice and thin -- they really enhance the wine you're drinking. Make sure to use lint free towels on them and treat them delicately.
