Beautiful belt, needs a better size chart though

Bought this as a gift. The belt is beautiful - quality felt great & the matte black finish of the buckle gives it a modern feel, with a look that's versatile for both work and casual wear. The size chart is very unclear though and somewhat misleading - would make things a lot easier if there was a conversion chart with it. Got the size 40 for a guy who typically wears an XL / ~36" waist, which looks like it'll work.
