Web ID: 2723428

First manufactured in 1896 in Meiji-era Japan this style of knife is considered to be the first Japanese pocketknife. One of the key characteristics of the traditional Higo-No Kami is that when the knife is closed part of the blade tang protrudes and can be used like a small lever to open the knife with one hand. A locking liner secures the blade open when in use so it cannot accidentally close, while the VG10 insuper steel in blade make it perfect for use as a personal steak knife

Beautiful knife in every way.

This is one of those things that you own just because it’s a piece of art that you can hold and use. The blade is Shun sharp and it’s traditional design shows what the “old ways” are the best ways. Unfortunately for me, when I purchased mine it didn’t come/have its sheath. Hey Shun, got an extra one laying around?

Pocket sized Shun chef’s knife

This is an amazing little pocket knife. However calling a pocket knife does not do it justice. It’s a pocket size Shun quality kitchen knife. I will probably never pull it out in a restaurant to cut my steak, but will probably use it at a backyard BBQ. Just to impress my friends. Yes it’s expensive but if you can afford it it’s a lot of fun to have a quality knife in your hand.

VG10 blade steel is excellent,

VG10 blade steel is excellent, but must be kept honed due to use on china dinnerware and the steep angle of the edge grind. Gorgeous knife, excellent materials, and perfect size for my intended purpose!
