I got my 1st set of dishes about 30 years ago and have added over the years. Every holiday season the table looks festive, the additional pieces are beautiful and everyone always loves coming for Christmas dinner.

30 years & counting

I fell in love with this pattern when I was in high school & had a very "formal" British luncheon at a friends home, where her very English mother served off these dishes. I have been collecting ever since....saving up for different pieces....and through the generous Christmas gifts of my parents & family, I have quite a collection...But I ALWAYS look forward to the new yearly arrivals! I never lose that original excitement when I am able to add a new piece! I unpack & display over the Thanksgiving weekend...and after Christmas dinner, each item is washed by hand & put back in the hutch until Little Christmas, when they are packed away in their original boxes until the next Thanksgiving. Each piece has a memory...of parents now gone, of a family now splintered through time & distance, of laugher & voices, of special recipes served and the happiness in knowing that each new year will be filled with new memories that always start and ends with this Spode Christmas Tree pattern around the table.

Family Traditions

I first purchased the Spode Christmas dishes for my mother when I was 15 yrs old. I had saved money from every paycheck of my first job and bought her a place settings for six that Christmas. She had been eyeing these dishes for a few years, but at the time, we were not financially "well off". Being able to see the childlike excitement in her face that morning was something I will never forget. 18 years later...she is still getting a new piece every year from me....and her face still gets the same excited look on her face. These dishes have been more than just 'christmas dishes' for our family. They have been a bond between mother and daughter. They have held up beautifully through the years and years of being used. They are pulled down the day after Thanksgiving and are used for every meal through New Years Day. They have seen their share of Christmas parties, cooking, small children, 100's and 100's of dishwasher runs and still, one would not be able to tell the difference between the 18 yr old pieces compared to the brand new pieces. Such a great product...in many more ways than one.

Christmas Traditions

My daughter originally owned a Spode Christmas collection, and all the family would add pieces to her set as gifts. Sadly, it was lost through a move from apartment to home. The set was beautiful and it endured constant use, Thanksgiving through the first of the new year, and she washed them via her dishwasher. The quality of these dishes ... they still looked like new after 15 years. I wish for family traditions to be carried down from my grandmother to my mom, and then from me to my daughters, to my granddaughters; and starting a Christmas dinnerware collection for each of them is one way to celebrate this tradition. Spode has the quality and reputation that will create a million memories and carry them through the ages. We are going to start a new set for our daughter to be passed on through her family.

Purchased the 12 piece set of Spode Christmas dinner ware and absolutely love it. Very festive and beautiful, love to add more pieces every year. Spode dinnerware is a great brand and I am happy that Macy's caries it.
