Perfect size. For meals for two. I really love the look of the basil color with the bronze knob.

Any size in any color is a must in your kitchen! The red has such a beautiful gloss to it and the size works well since it’s just the two of us.

Useful color change with temperature

I couldn't be happier with this smaller casserole to supplement the larger one which I had bought locally. An interesting feature of the cherry enamel is that it changes color with temperature. (Those who work in art glass will be familiar with this effect.) And we're not talking about pyrometer temperatures either! It's actually useful within the range used for cooking. A hot cherry enamelled Cocotte will have a dull liverish appearance in a hot oven, more so if very hot. It slowly returns to its shelf color as it cools. So you can be sure that a bright cherry casserole will be safe to handle with bare hands. Wear oven mitts when picking up a dull brownish one.

Bottom peeling off

I loved this cocote and have been using it but I find the bottom is pealing off and now I see the peeled off spots! I am very disappointed. Is this because I bought this on sale? Am I not using it in a proper way? I used it to make stews and soups.
