Great piece to complete a kitchen

I have this pot in two sizes and love it! Cooks evenly and looks beautiful....even if it doesn't fit in your cabinet or shelf it can sit on top of the stove unused and looks stylish. Great for soups, stews and even pasta dishes.

Finally got It

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've been watching this pot for a while. Decided to order it a week, got delivered today. I'm so happy and can't wait to cook in it. Sturdy and beautifully made. I'll update after I start using it.

Perfect for soups

Loved my 3.75 quart Staub cocotte so much but it simply wasn't big enough for larger batches of soups. The 9 quart is perfect. Well made, heavy duty construction. Plus, the inside it black so clean up is very easy and it always looks brand new.

Great cooking pot worth its weight

Wow! I love the way this cocotte cooks! Stews and braises are a breeze and chilis are perfect!

This big boy is the perfect size for my large extended family. Love the dark interior, which aids in caramelization and creates the perfect sear on meats, and poultry. The heavy flat lid, with dimples on the inside, really hold on to all those juices, and does all the basting needed for moist roasts and poultry. Love that it can be used on all cook tops, including my portable induction hub that I use outside when I want to fry up some fish and chips, so that the odor does not remain in the house. Also oven safe up to 500 degrees which is useful when browning the bread crumbs on top of the macaroni and cheese casserole I use this pan for. Really satisfied with the quality of this dutch oven, and look forward to adding additional pieces to my collection.

While an excellent pan for for stews, chili or soups, it braises beautifully, especially for large pieces of meat - think pork butt. The pan heats quickly, evenly and retains heat for hours. It has self-basting spikes on the interior of the lid which collect and return all moisture back into dish - nothing dries out and your flavor base stays intact.

I love this size and I love this shape especially for roasting chickens or baking a boule of sourdough bread. You have enough room to add all of your vegetables in with the chicken, which is a huge plus. For baking bread the cast iron is perfect because it conducts heat so well, and retains the heat. The spikes under the lid collect moisture and self-baste whatever dish you are baking or roasting in the oven, all while it is cooking, so almost like you have an extra hand! You get to take all the credit though! Bread does come out perfect when baked in a staub and your chickens will come out juicy and golden brown.

A Size Begging for More Guests!!

Big but not huge...this cocotte covers lots of bases. Seer or braise inside...slow cook and make fantastic stews...Either way, the fully-enameled piece can take it and then scrub clean. Also has the li'l spikes for Keeping food maxi-moist!
