Thule can’t seem to create a complete product.
Finally Thule brings back blue color backpacks instead of unattractive orange, yellow and army green. But is it too difficult to put a sturdy top strap for those of us who don’t always want to carry it as a backpack? Or a strap on the back to go on top of carry on luggage at the airport so we don’t have to switch bags?

Fantastic Quality but One Fatal Flaw
I bought this product as a college student wanting to reduce to a smaller backpack footprint. Almost all my books are digital now, so it works out. However, I overall regret buying this specific model of Thule backpack for three reasons. First, I underestimated the lack of space in the front pocket for smaller items. Once I had my laptop charger, another cable, calculator, keys, dongles, a mouse, a small prescription bottle, and some petroleum jelly, it starts to get tight; I'm consciousness of exceeding the space when I wish I didn't have to. I'm not really blaming the bag for this as I underestimated the size of the bag, I suppose. Second, the straps are not wide, so it doesn't spread the weight of the bag on your shoulders as much as other bags do. They should be wider and more comfortable; it's a bit uncomfortable when I do rarely carry heavy books in the bag across campus. Third, which incredibly annoys me, is that the water bottle pockets are too small. You essentially cannot fit medium sized water tumblers on both sides. Since the pockets are made out of the same rigid (and high quality) material as the whole bag, they really do not stretch and accommodate bigger water bottles. I carry everyday a 32 oz Nalgene and a Thermos Stainless King Tumbler with me. However, when I place my 1 inch binder into the bag, I cannot fit both the Nalgene and Thermos into both of the pockets without crushing the contents of the bag. This binder is soft, so it crushes and compacts the pages inside. The water bottle in the pocket "eats" into the space of the backpack because the pocket material does not stretch. These two bottles just don't fit. I'm forced to hold my Thermos always while my Nalgene stays in one pocket. This is extremely annoying because I am carrying a jacket, headphones, or anything else in my hands, so it's just another addition to something I'm forced to do I do not desire. This has annoyed me so much over the past 1.5 years that made this review. Overall, it's a great product but just not for me. I would not suggest buying if you carry binders with two water bottles like myself. I know that's very specific but should be total dealbreaker. Don't get me wrong, this is the highest quality backpack I have ever owned, and I also own thousands of dollars of Thule car roof solutions. I really enjoy Thule products. But would I recommend this to a fellow student? No, not really.

Wonderful Back Pack!
I bought this to take to work. I condensed my purse into this backpack with my laptop and it is much easier on my back to carry every day. Holds a lot of items, with many compartments for my phone, keys, water bottle, etc. The best part is it is very sturdy. I have the tan color and it looks great. I am so pleased with this purchase!
